Our Story

FortWest Engineering was founded by Yury Polzunov, P.Eng, and Olga Polzounova, P.Eng — a husband-and-wife team with a shared passion for practical, high-quality engineering solutions. After decades of industry experience, we relocated to Gibsons, BC, to bring our expertise to the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, and surrounding regions.

As engineers who have personally designed and built our own ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) home, we understand the process from both the technical and homeowner perspectives. This hands-on experience deepens our ability to serve clients with insight, care, and efficiency.

We're proud to support homeowners, contractors, architects, and developers with structural, civil, septic, and mechanical engineering services, along with design/drafting and construction management. Our local knowledge and strong relationships with building authorities help navigate the unique challenges of building in coastal and island communities.
